
Martha R. Hernandez, PMHNP, BC
Martha Hernandez was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 1977.
She received her BSN from Hunter College-Bellevue School of Nursing in 1971 and her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Long Island University in 1975. She completed her Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner Certification Program in 1997 at Arizona State University.
Ms. Hernandez is Board Certified as an Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She was awarded the Master Psychopharmacologist Certification from the Neuroscience Education Institute in 2005.
Ms. Hernandez has an extensive clinical background in oncology and mental health nursing in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She also taught psychiatric nursing and nursing administration at Pahlavi University in Shiraz,Iran from 1975-1977.
Ms. Hernandez has worked to improve mental health services in the community through legislation and volunteerism. She has been in private practice since 1980. She has a special interest in bicultural and bilingual treatment issues, psychiatric disorders of medical conditions and women’s health issues.
